RFID Supermarket
For apparel and selected general merchandise, RFID tags in supermarkets may support item-level identification and inventory visibility. However, metal packaging, liquids, foil-lined products and densely stocked shelves can affect RFID performance. These product categories may require specialized RFID tags, application testing or alternative EAS and physical security devices.
Where RFID Fits in Supermarkets and Grocery Stores
RFID grocery store applications can support inventory counting, product identification and supply chain visibility when the merchandise and reading environment are suitable. However, an effective RFID supermarket deployment should be based on product-category testing rather than applying standard RFID labels to every item.
